How is the DHI Method Applied?

According to the general opinion around the world, DHI is not actually a new technique. It is just a different application of FUE. As in normal FUE, grafts are collected with a micromotor. The grafts collected one by one from the nape area are transferred to the bald area with the help of a special pen-like medical hair transplant device called Choi Pen (Pen or Implanter), whose thickness varies between 0.6 mm and 1 mm. In other words, grafts (roots) collected with FUE are directly transplanted with a special medical pen (Choi pen).

The Choi pen is a specially designed medical instrument. DHI, Choi is very thin, pointed but has a tip that can be inserted into a hair root thanks to its special design. This fine-tipped medical pen, which is dipped at a suitable angle to the scalp in the balding area, is pressed on the back, thanks to its spring mechanism, it places the hair follicle inside the scalp.

The purpose of DHI; It is a dense and dense planting without opening channels, creating tissue damage and even cutting the hair most of the time.

Advantages of DHI Hair Transplantation

Since there is no channel opening process, much less tissue damage and less bleeding occurs. Since the transplantation is done directly without opening a channel, the collected hair follicles are transferred (transplanted) to the balding area in a shorter time. Since the transplantation is made with the special Choi pen, the problems such as breaking the roots, not fully settling, not holding the roots are minimized as in normal transplantation. Thanks to the special Choi pen, the existing hair in the transplanted area is not damaged.

A much faster recovery process occurs after hair transplantation. In this way, the return to daily normal life can be done in a very short time. It is also known as unshaved hair transplant. It is a very suitable method for women as unshaven transplantation can be done thanks to DHI. Since it allows a more dense and dense planting, a more natural appearance can be obtained.

Disadvantages of DHI Hair Transplantation

DHI hair transplantation is a procedure that requires patience. Since the collected grafts are placed in Choi pens one by one, the procedure time is long. Although the collected grafts are placed in the Choi pen with a crowded operation team, the operation time is quite prolonged because the transplantation (transfer) is made to the bald area by a single person. Compared to normal FUE or Sapphire FUE, much less grafts (roots) can be transplanted.

No matter how crowded the operation team is, a maximum of 4,000 grafts (root) can be transplanted in a single day. DHI is not a suitable method for operations requiring high number of transplantation. It is not a suitable method for people with curly hair and very fine hair.

It is not a suitable method for people who have a lot of hair loss and have an increased clearance area. Since DHI is generally preferred without shaving, the transplanted hair sticks to the existing hair strands in the following days. Due to this adhesion, some loss occurs in the transplanted hair. Compared to Sapphire FUE, the rate of hair loss transplanted in DHI is higher.

Is DHI Hair Transplant Technique (Choi) Suitable for Everyone?

Although DHI Hair Transplantation seems to be suitable for everybody over the age of 18, it is a method that should not be preferred, especially in people with excessive hair loss and a large area of ??opening. Again, it is not very suitable for people with curly and weak hair, thin and voluminous hair structure.

The most suitable people for DHI are those who do not have a large shedding area and need up to 4,000 grafts (roots). It is especially suitable for unshaved transplantation in a narrower area for women, if desired.
